Advanced SASE: It CAN Be Done Today

The Gartner® secure access service edge (SASE) framework has generated tremendous interest in the market, spanning from small businesses to large institutions, and appealing to security and networking professionals alike. In their ‘Market Guide for Single-Vendor SASE’,** Gartner has generally seen demand for single-vendor SASE solutions coming from “smaller enterprises that don’t have strongly siloed network and security teams and don’t require best of breed across all capabilities.” In their ‘Critical Capabilities™ for Single-Vendor SASE’, they acknowledged that “the level of advanced security features across all [single-vendor SASE] offerings is only mediocre for most enterprises.”*** So, what should large organizations not willing to compromise on state-of-the-art capabilities do?  

Until now, the prescribed course has been for enterprises to adopt dual-vendor SASE. While this will continue to be a viable direction for enterprises with separate security and networking decision-makers, or existing investments in SSE or SD-WAN infrastructure that they don’t want to replace, a new alternative is now available.
