New Zealand Privacy Act 2020

The New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 governs how personal information is collected, used, stored, retained, transferred and other processing activities in New Zealand. It ensures that individuals’ privacy is respected while enabling the free flow of information needed for modern business and public services. The Act applies to agencies operating in New Zealand, including overseas ones, regardless of location or profit intentions. It covers personal information, even if collected, held, or transferred outside New Zealand. Non-compliance can result in fines of up to NZD 10,000 for offenses and reputational damage for organizations.

By adhering to the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, we ensure the protection of personal data and comply with both legal and ethical standards, building trust with our stakeholders.

New Zealand’s data protection authority is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (OPC). The OPC provides oversight, guidance, and support for both individuals and organizations. You can find more information at OPC’s official website.
