Gartner defines cloud access security brokers (CASBs) as on-premises, or cloud-based security policy enforcement points, placed between cloud service consumers and cloud service providers to combine and interject enterprise security policies as the cloud-based resources are accessed[1].
“Critical business data and processes are increasingly moving away from legacy on-premises tools toward cloud services. As a result, enterprises require technology that provides what Netskope was designed from the ground up for: a platform that provides real-time visibility into and control over all cloud services and robust data loss prevention built with the unique characteristics of the cloud in mind. The ability to prevent and remediate cloud threats and enablement of granular dynamic access control that governs usage in real time for any user from any device across sanctioned and unsanctioned cloud services is also paramount,” said Sanjay Beri, founder and CEO, Netskope. “We are delighted to be recognized as a Leader, and we believe being furthest to the right overall for completeness of vision recognizes our leading technology and architecture, the breadth of our offering, and the differentiated and long-term vision we have always had for our company.”
According to the report, “Cloud access security brokers have become an essential element of any cloud security strategy, helping organizations govern the use of cloud and protect sensitive data in the cloud. Security and risk management leaders should align CASB vendors to address specific use-case requirements[2].”
