Award-winning solution delivers industry’s first cloud-based exact match dynamic dictionary, prevents leakage across more cloud services than any other CASB
Netskope, the leader in cloud security, today announced several new advancements to its award-winning cloud data loss prevention (DLP) solution. Used by the largest companies in the world, Netskope Cloud DLP now includes dynamic dictionary creation, built-in EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)-readiness tagging of cloud services, and 15 new compliance templates that allow security professionals to detect, protect, and control the movement of regulated data in cloud services. Netskope Cloud DLP enables customers to effectively protect their corporate intellectual property and sensitive data stored in cloud services.
Integrated with the Netskope Active Platform, Netskope Cloud DLP has been implemented at scale across many of the largest enterprises in the world, including leading healthcare, retail, financial services and technology-focused businesses. More than three quarters of these customers have taken advantage of the company’s flexible, all-mode architecture when deploying Netskope. By decoding not just the published APIs of sanctioned cloud services, but also the thousands of unpublished APIs in sanctioned and unsanctioned services, the patented Netskope Context Engine enables enterprises to detect and control sensitive or regulated content both at rest in sanctioned services and in real-time en route to or from any cloud service, including across entire service categories. This enables Netskope to enforce cloud DLP policies on more cloud services than any other vendor in the cloud access security broker (CASB) market.
Through the addition of the industry’s first cloud-based dynamic dictionary for exact data matching, Netskope Cloud DLP can be configured to look for information that doesn’t follow standard formatting (e.g., names, addresses, personal interests, hobbies, sexual preference, etc.). These values are traditionally harder to detect, which makes Netskope Cloud DLP an attractive offering for global enterprises that are beholden to privacy regulations and heavily targeted in social engineering attacks like those used to inflict ransomware.
For organizations concerned with GDPR compliance, Netskope now provides an assessment of each cloud service’s readiness when it comes to compliance with the regulation. By looking at more than 50 attributes within the service, Netskope provides a simple “yes” or “no” answer to security professionals who are under intense pressure to beat the 2018 deadline. The readiness value for services can be used to set policies within Netskope such as, “Don’t allow employees to upload personally-identifiable data to services that are not GDPR-ready.”
Netskope Cloud DLP also now includes more than 15 new DLP templates to identify sensitive data and enable users to define sophisticated policies similar to those can define in the most advanced, on-premises DLP. One such template enables Netskope Cloud DLP to scan for the presence of unsecured content that would be considered in scope for GDPR. Other compliance templates include:
- Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)
- Personal Health Information and Protection Act (PHIPA)
- Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations
- Access to Medical Reports Act
- Social Security Number Confidentiality Act
- US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) rules
These templates can be used in combination with tools in the enterprise that perform data classification, such as Titus and Bolden James, or rights management services such as Microsoft RMS.
“The proliferation of cloud services and growth of data flowing to them coincides with an urgent call to protect both confidential business data as well as users’ private data,” said Sanjay Beri, founder and CEO, Netskope. “With the most sweeping privacy legislation in history upon us with GDPR, the time is now for enterprises put in place a cloud DLP strategy that is comprehensive across all of the cloud services they are accessing, yet can pinpoint and secure sensitive information with precision and accuracy.”
