Additional NewEdge data centres increase capacity and coverage to better serve customers in region with fast, secure access and superior application performance
Santa Clara, Calif. – Aug 17th, 2021 – Netskope, the SASE leader, announced its continued expansion of the Netskope NewEdge network across Latin America, with new data centres coming online in Lima, Peru; followed by Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia, Brazil. The new facilities add to the existing NewEdge footprint already established in the region and help make Netskope the leading SASE vendor across Latin America, with more coverage than any other vendor.
The NewEdge network is a critical component of the Netskope Security Cloud, enabling the company to on-ramp user traffic as quickly as possible, perform the real-time inline traffic processing required for security and data protection locally, and speed user access to the web, cloud, SaaS, or private apps they need to do their job. This performance is critical for avoiding trade-offs between security and business productivity when protecting data, preventing web- and cloud-based security threats, and applying Zero Trust principles throughout the technology architecture.
Netskope’s growth in Latin America mirrors similar rapid expansion in other regions, in order to address headquarter, branch, and remote worker needs for some of the world’s largest enterprises and government institutions. Netskope NewEdge has existing coverage in Latin America through data centres in Bogota, Colombia; Santiago, Chile, Buenos Aires, Argentina and São Paulo, Brazil. Expanded APAC NewEdge coverage was recently announced in Australia, New Zealand, The Philippines, and Singapore, and recent EMEA additions included supplementary coverage in the UK, France, and the UAE, as well as new presence in Switzerland.
“Securing traffic and data are top concerns for telecommunications companies. Even the best technology proves useless by making access to web and cloud applications slow or impossible for users to use,” said Claudio Creo, Head of Cybersecurity at TIM (Telecom Italia Mobile), one of the largest operators in Brazil, with more than 53 million users. “We experience daily how NewEdge accelerates user access and optimizes application performance, and we are excited about the continued global expansion of Netskope’s cloud security network.”
NewEdge offers direct peering with the most commonly used web, cloud, and SaaS providers to maintain the highly connected nature of the Netskope network. For example, every NewEdge data centre is directly connected with Microsoft and Google to deliver the best application performance and a superior user experience. With hundreds of network adjacencies — putting NewEdge on par with leading brands like Netflix and Apple — this focus on direct peering and full interconnection makes Netskope NewEdge one of the most well-connected networks in the world, based on public rankings.
Pedro Adamovic, CISO at Banco Galicia commented; “We have been working with Netskope for several years and have seen a real improvement when the local point of presence was implemented in Buenos Aires. Netskope’s continuous investment and clear commitment to Latin America shows that we have chosen the right partner for our cybersecurity strategy.”
Alain Karioty, regional director for Latin America at Netskope commented; “We are seeing tremendous growth in the Latin American region, with organisations eager to adopt a SASE approach in order to accelerate the transformation of their security architecture. These transformations are being driven by the erosion of the traditional IT perimeter, with business units adopting new cloud technologies to support business goals. Businesses need world-class security that does not in any way diminish network performance or user experience, and you cannot deliver this without powerful in-region infrastructure, part of a distributed dedicated service edge. Our large and growing NewEdge network is capable of inspecting massive amounts of data locally, with no need for bizarre backhauling routes or reliance on unpredictable public transport.”
With more than 1,500 customers, Netskope serves some of the world’s largest and most technically demanding organizations. Among many 2021 highlights, Netskope recently attracted $300 million in new investment, including from Base Partners, a technology-focused growth equity firm based in Sao Paulo, achieving a post-money valuation of $7.5 billion.
