Netskope Named a “Cool Vendor” by Analyst Firm Gartner

“Cool Vendor” Report Recognizes Innovative, Impactful and Intriguing Vendors in the Security Intelligence Market

LOS ALTOS, Calif., May 7, 2014 – Netskope, the leader in cloud app analytics and policy enforcement, today announced it has been included in the list of “Cool Vendors” in the Security Intelligence[i] report by Gartner, Inc.

According to the report, “This year’s Cool Vendors in security intelligence offer innovative, forward-thinking solution sets designed to address emerging and newly identified security challenges.”

“We believe Netskope’s inclusion in the Cool Vendor report by Gartner validates our vision and product leadership,” said Sanjay Beri, CEO of Netskope.  “At the same time, the problem we are solving requires ongoing innovation. IT must allow rapid adoption of cloud apps without sacrificing security and compliance. This is a careful balance that requires a thoughtful approach.”

Created to help enterprises unmask “Shadow IT” usage and enforce policies that protect sensitive information and prevent data loss, Netskope Active is the first and only platform to provide real-time analytics and policies for any cloud app, whether sanctioned by IT or not. Key features and benefits of the Netskope cloud access and security broker (CASB) solution include:

  • Granular Visibility – Netskope discovers cloud apps, provides complete visibility and performs deep analytics that give IT the ability to pivot around cloud app usage details, answering questions such as “Who’s sharing sensitive content with people outside of the company from any cloud app?” or “Who’s downloading personally identifiable employee information from any HR app after hours?”
  • Policy Enforcement – Leveraging the visibility and analytics, IT can set and enforce context- and activity-aware policies in real-time. This policy enforcement capabilities also serve to protect sensitive data through the Netskope Active Cloud DLP product released in January. These policies include, “Prevent the upload of electronic personal health information to any cloud app,” or “Prevent people from sharing content outside of the company from any cloud storage app.”
  • Anomaly Detection – real-time, context-aware identification of previously unknown behaviors that can signal a potential security event or data breach. This includes excessive sharing or downloads, unusual access patterns that can signal security threats, or simultaneous logins from multiple locations that can signal the hijacking of users’ credentials.
  • Cloud Confidence Index™ (CCI) – a database of nearly 5,000 cloud apps that have been assessed on 35 objective criteria across security, auditability, and disaster recovery to determine their enterprise readiness. CCI scores can be customized in accordance with an enterprise’s requirements as well as incorporated into a Netskope policy, e.g., “Prevent content from being uploaded to any app rated ‘low’ or ‘poor.’” Netskope releases a quarterly Cloud Report based on the CCI, which analyzes cloud app use in the enterprise.

About Netskope

Netskope™ is the leader in cloud app analytics and policy enforcement. Only Netskope eliminates the catch-22 between being agile and being secure and compliant by providing complete visibility, enforcing sophisticated policies, and protecting data in cloud apps. The Netskope Active Platform performs deep analytics and lets decision-makers create policies in a few clicks that prevent the loss of sensitive data and optimize cloud app usage in real-time and at scale, whether IT manages the app or not. With Netskope, people get their favorite cloud apps and the business can move fast, with confidence.
